I love using creative and enjoyable ways to enable people to flourish in life.
About Shropshire Mindfulness
Mindfulness has helped me manage my own ups and downs in life, and I have been fortunate to experience many of the benefits first hand.
Whilst studying at college, my doctor suggested learning meditation may be a good way to manage stress and anxiety. I began to meditate regularly and started to experience the benefits of mindfulness through developing my ability to focus and concentrate and to stop worrying so much. This really helped my studies and also improved the quality of my sleep. I went on to do my teacher training and became a college teacher.
I noticed that a lot of students (children, young people and adults) experienced similar anxiety and stress and this often got in the way of their learning. I decided to offer short awareness practices at the beginning of all my classes. I did some more studying and research and completed an MA in Education (2009) which looked at using meditative practices to support classroom learning and it showed there was a measurable, positive impact on learners.
I really hope in the future, that every educational community has the chance to offer mindfulness to children and young people, so they are able to develop the awareness and compassion needed to manage and adapt in this rapidly changing, fast-paced world.
Teacher of Mindfulness
I qualified to teach mindfulness in 2013 and continued my studies to teach mindfulness and wellbeing to all ages, by learning different mindfulness-based approaches, through Bangor University CMRP, Mindfulness in Schools (MiSP), The Present Courses CIC, Oxford University Centre for Mindfulness and the Mindfulness Network. I become a competency-assessed mindfulness-based stress reduction teacher at advanced level, in 2017.
I teach mindfulness in all settings, the community, in the private and public sector businesses and in educational establishments. I deliver teacher training for The Present Courses, and Mindfulness in Schools, I am a trained mindfulness supervisor for other mindfulness teachers and trainees for the Mindfulness Network, and I am listed by British Association for Mindfulness-based Approaches (BAMBA).
My passion for well-being
As for me, the learning journey continues, and I have recently studied for my 200 hours yoga teacher training to enhance the retreats and mindful movement that I offer.
